The Art of Cake
Lincoln ‘L’ Alexander developed an appetite for cake artistry from a young age. His mother was an avid baker and operated a small cake baking and decorating business out of their family home. As a child, L. Alexander would sit on the kitchen floor and admire his mother’s baking as she would mix up delicious tasting confections all from memory. Often, she would invite him to tinker in many of her cake decorating projects. Unbeknown to him, this childhood admiration would influence his creativity in the culinary arts as a young adult.
At age fifteen, while his classmates were running around the neighborhood, L. Alexander was designing, baking and decorating cakes alongside his mother

for local community members, including government officials. As he mastered his craft, he began to build a name for himself beyond the neighborhood. By the time he graduated college with an honors degree in business, he had delivered over fifty custom cakes in five states and three countries.
Over the next twenty years, L. Alexander would graduate with four more degrees including two master’s and a doctorate in public health. He established a career as a public health professor and began to raise a family including three equally creative children. Meanwhile, L. Alexander’s passion for cake artistry never diminished. Throughout the years, he continued to design and outfit custom cakes for weddings and major corporate events.
L. Alexander's award-winning couture cakes have been featured in publications worldwide such as ESSENCE Magazine, The Knot Magazine, MunaLuchi Bride, Whimsical Wonderful Weddings, The BCollective, HelloBeautiful, Grand Rapids Magazine and more! Some of his celebrity and corporate clientele include Grammy and Stellar award-winning recording artist, Kierra Sheard-Kelly, and Fortune 500 enterprises such as Spectrum Health, Farrah Merhi of Inspire Me! In 2021, Wedding Day Magazine named Flour House Cakes & Co. one of the 'Top Bakeries in the Midwest' and the historic baking and decorating GIANT, Wilton Cakes, featured L. Alexander and his phenomenal creations.
