How do I schedule a consultation?
Start by filling out our inquiry form on the "Contact" page. Please provide as much detail as possible. Once your form is submitted, we will review and contact you shortly after. Note: We can schedule a year in advance for weddings and major events (your venue must be booked prior to a tasting). All details must be confirmed 2months prior to your event. We offer weekend and evening Zoom and phone appointments. Consultations are usually one hour long and will include cake designing, flavor selection, and discussing important details about your special day.
How do I schedule a tasting?
Once we reply to your inquiry form with our availability, you will be invited to either a virtual or in-person consultation. At that time, you will be offered a cake tasting box with your choice of 3 signature flavors. Tastings are complimentary for clients with a minimum spending of $1,800. Otherwise, the cost per box is $35.00 + shipping. The tasting box is deducted from the total cost of the wedding package if a contract is signed.
How do I secure services with Flour House Cakes & Co.?
In order for us to hold your event date, we require a signed contract and 50% nonrefundable retainer deposit for cake services at time of consultation and/or tasting. Final payment is due 1-month prior to your event.
Does the nonrefundable retainer deposit apply to my balance?
Yes, the retainer will be applied to your final balance.
How will my cake be priced?
Many details go into quoting a custom cake. The cost of your cake will be determined by the type of cake, finishing selected, flavorings and fillings, embellishments and number of servings required. We highly encourage all wedding clients to schedule a complimentary cake consultation and tasting to discuss details of your event and build a customized quote.
What areas do you serve?
Flour House Cakes & Co. serves all of West Michigan and Metro Detroit. However, we are happy to travel to other regions across Michigan upon request ($2,500 minimum contract order).
What are your delivery fees?
Delivery fees are assessed at $0.79/mile for non-wedding event orders. We have a $150 minimum delivery fee (setup services included) for wedding and Major events within 30 miles of Grand Rapids or Detroit. Venues over 30 miles will be assessed an additional charge (quoted during consultation).
Do you offer Gluten/Soy/Dairy/Nut Free/Vegan options?
Unfortunately, we do not operate in an allergy free facility. At this time, we do not offer cakes for clients with the above specified allergies. However, some of our cake selections may be naturally free of the ingredients listed above (please inquire).
What methods of payment do you accept?
Currently, we accept payment through PayPal ONLY. This service allows you to use electronic transfer, debit and all major credit cards.
Do you make customary/cultural cakes?
Yes, we offer a small selection of specialty cakes such as Caribbean Fruit (Black) Cake. Please do not hesitate to ask us about our options.
Do you have A diversity and inclusion statement?
Yes, Flour House Cakes & Co. is available for ALL life celebrations. However, we WILL NOT accept clients who request cakes that serve to promote hate and/or discriminate against groups or communities. We reserve the rights to decline customers who do not support our values.
Do you sell small treats?
Currently, we do not offer cupcakes, cake pops and/or cookies unless they are a part of a major wedding or corporate catering contract with Flour House Cakes & Co. (minimum order required). However, we offer Gourmet Cake Jars with a minimum order of a box of 3 jars.
